JACOB AND THE CLOUD

PROJECT Book Illustrations

YEAR 2022

Jacob and the Cloud is a children’s book written by Kelsey Irving and illustrated by Emeline.

Something is bothering Jacob and it seems to follow him wherever he goes, like a big dark cloud. Jacob is tired of the cloud and tries everything he can to get rid of it. Read along as Jacob learns by trial and error how to stop resisting the cloud and start building confidence and resilience for overcoming life's challenges.

Written by a licensed mental health counselor, this story incorporates concepts of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in a way that gives the reader easy-to-use strategies for working through challenging emotions. Children (and adults) can learn that experiencing tough feelings such as anxiety, anger and sadness does not have to keep them from doing what they love.

“I found this book to be very good for children with challenges in their life and are weighing heavily on their mind. The illustrations are excellent and relatable to children. The illustrator did a great job making the illustrations playful, colorful and depicting diverse groups of children. Wonderful illustrations!”

Super cute story and I love the illustrations! So clever ☺️”

“This is perfect for working one to one with a student or an entire classroom. Thanks :)”

“Love this! Fantastic artwork!”

“Ordered just in time for Summer reading, to continue school lessons. Love the message about Jacob not being the only one to experience the dark cloud and learning to live with it. Easy for a child to relate to and colorful illustrations.”
